Auto Owners Insurance – Parking Lot Rehabilitation / Peoria, Illinois

Maurer-Stutz, Inc. provided topographic survey, engineering design, and construction phase services to rehabilitate and provide drainage improvements for an existing parking lot.

The parking lot had severe deterioration with discolored liquid weeping out of the cracks.  Parking lot cores were taken, which determined that water was perched on top of the sub-grade within the parking lot base.  Drainage improvements were designed to address the issues including island drains, cutting drain tile into the parking lot, a drainage swale with drain tile, and adding slotted drain to stop lawn flows from getting on the parking lot.

Site design included demolition, storm drainage improvements, assuring ADA compliance for building access and sidewalks, pavement design, and assisting in obtaining the necessary permits.  Construction responsibilities included bidding, construction administration, shop drawing review, construction observation, and construction closeout.

 

Macomb Train Depot – Parking Lot Reconstruction / Macomb, Illinois

Maurer-Stutz, Inc. provided topographic survey, engineering design, and construction phase services to reconstruct and provide drainage improvements for an existing parking lot.

The parking lot was severely deteriorated.  One additional inlet was added, and the parking lot grading was modified to better drain and meet ADA requirements.  Broken and damaged concrete sidewalk and curb was also removed and replaced.  The entire pavement section was removed and a new concrete parking lot was constructed.  The project had a short construction timeline bid to avoid impacting the City of Macomb’s Heritage Days, and times of heavy use by the local college students.

Site design included demolition, storm drainage improvements, assuring ADA compliance for building access and sidewalks, pavement design, preparation of contract bidding documents, and assisting in obtaining the necessary permits.  Construction responsibilities included bidding, construction administration, shop drawing review, construction observation, and construction closeout.

 

S&H Camp Properties – Bus Parking / Farmington, Illinois

Maurer-Stutz, Inc. provided topographic survey, engineering design, and permitting assistance phase services to for a gravel parking lot and school bus maintenance shed.

The parking lot was designed under short time constraints to obtain Peoria County permitting quickly enough to be constructed before school started in the fall.  Two detention cells were designed to account for the increase in impermeable area.

Site design included demolition, plan layout, grading, stormwater management and detention, pavement design, and assisting in obtaining the necessary permits.  Construction responsibilities included construction administration and coordination with survey construction layout.

 

Creekwood & Sandburg – ADA & Drainage Rehabilitation / Morton and Galesburg, Illinois

Maurer-Stutz, Inc. provided topographic survey and civil engineering design for two apartment complexes.

The Creekwood Apartments in Morton, IL and the Sandburg Village Apartments in Galesburg, IL were built before ADA laws were passed.  Under new Ownership, both sites were required to be brought into ADA compliance for parking spaces, ramps, sidewalks, and building access.  Parking lot drainage issues were also addressed as part of the project.

Site design included field visits with slope checks for ADA compliance, marking sidewalk demolition locations, survey, demolition, plan layout, grading, stormwater improvements, assuring ADA compliance for parking, building access and sidewalks, pavement designs, and assisting in obtaining the necessary permits.
