Error 404: Page Not Found
Neither of us wants to be here:
A 404 Error is the result of a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) transaction wherein the client transmits a correctly formatted HTTP request packet to the target server, establishing a TCP connection over port 80 (or port 443 for HTTPS). Upon parsing the request’s URI through its internal routing engine and path resolver, the server performs a hierarchical directory traversal and/or invokes any applicable rewrite rules. When the specified resource cannot be dereferenced—due to nonexistence or incorrect path resolution—the server dispatches a 404 response header, indicating a failure in URI-object mapping. This ultimately leads to the client-side rendering of an error page, typically leaving end-users in a state of existential reflection on the fragility of digital pathways.
