The finishing touches are being placed on the new apartment building on Duryea Ave. in Peoria Heights. This stunning building consists of three stories of apartments built above a ground-floor, indoor parking garage.
Maurer-Stutz, Inc. provided the structural design for the building. Working closely with the General Contractor, Noah Herman Sons Builders, and the Architect, BSB Design, the project progressed from concept to construction plans between July and October 2017. The structural aspects of the design included bearing the wood framed structure on the precast concrete planks forming the ceiling of the parking garage, detailing the wood-framed shear walls in the perimeter of the building, and ensuring sufficient anchorage of the cantilevered balconies.
Throughout the course of the construction, extending from October 2017 to November 2018, Maurer-Stutz remained available to consult on items such as truss shop drawings, metal stair systems, balcony details, and various other details arising during the course of the project.
