A Refreshed Look for Maurer-Stutz, Inc.

January 7, 2026/0 Comments/in Uncategorized/by Maurer-Stutz

We’re excited to share an update that has been thoughtfully developed over the past several months—a logo website refresh for Maurer-Stutz, Inc.

As our firm continues to grow and evolve, we felt it was the right time to make subtle, intentional updates to how we present ourselves visually and digitally. This effort was not a rebrand or a complete redesign, but rather a refresh—modernizing our look while continuing to honor the strong foundation, core values, and trusted reputation that have defined Maurer-Stutz for decades.

A Refreshed Logo

Our updated logo offers a cleaner, more modern look, while still honoring the strong foundation and values that run deep at Maurer-Stutz. The refinements were made with purpose—enhancing clarity, consistency, and usability across digital and print platforms—while preserving the recognizable elements that reflect who we are and where we’ve come from. Most importantly, our core values remain unchanged.

A Refreshed Website Experience

Alongside the logo update, we’ve launched a refreshed website designed to better serve our clients, partners, and communities. The updated site focuses on usability and clarity, with improvements that include:

  • Clearer navigation and organization

  • Updated service content that reflects our full range of expertise

  • A cleaner, more modern layout aligned with our refreshed brand

  • Improved performance across desktop and mobile devices

The goal of this website refresh was to make information easier to access and ensure our digital presence reflects the same professionalism and attention to detail our clients expect from our work.

Looking Ahead

This refresh represents a natural evolution of our firm—not a change in who we are. Our commitment to quality, integrity, and trusted service remains as strong as ever. These updates simply help us tell our story more clearly as we continue to serve our clients and communities.

We invite you to explore the refreshed site and thank you for being part of the Maurer-Stutz journey. We’re excited for what’s ahead.

Celebrating Steve Arahood: A Legacy of Leadership, Laughter, and Lasting Impact

April 23, 2025/0 Comments/in Uncategorized/by Maurer-Stutz

After nearly three decades of service, leadership, and unwavering dedication, we’re excited to celebrate the retirement of one of Maurer-Stutz’s finest—Steve Arahood. As he prepares to turn the page to a new chapter, we invite you to join us in recognizing the incredible impact Steve has made on our company, our clients, and our industry.

🎉 You’re Invited to Steve’s Retirement Party! 🎉
📅 Friday, May 2nd
🕒 3:00 – 6:00 PM
📍 Maurer-Stutz Office (3116 N. Dries Ln Suite 100, Peoria, IL 61604)

Stop by for refreshments, stories, and well wishes as we recognize Steve’s contributions and celebrate the next chapter ahead. We’d love to see you there!

Nearly 30 Years of Dedication

Steve joined Maurer-Stutz in August 1996, and it didn’t take long for him to become a cornerstone of the company. Over the years, Steve led some of our most complex civil engineering projects and served as company President, guiding MSI through challenges and triumphs alike.

From pumping stations and treatment plants to sewer system rehabilitation and CSO design, Steve was the go-to expert for tackling tough technical issues with confidence and clarity. His work wasn’t just about projects—it was about people. His steady leadership and problem-solving mindset built trust with clients and colleagues alike.

A Trusted Face in the Industry

Steve played a pivotal role in client relationships that helped shape our business, partnering with municipalities and organizations across Illinois, including:

  • City of Peoria

  • City of Canton

  • Farmer City

  • City of Bloomington

  • Village of Creve Coeur

  • Liberty Steel (Keystone)

  • Illinois American Water

His ability to build trust and deliver results made Steve a key figure both inside our office and throughout the industry.

A Scholar, Engineer, and Advocate

Steve’s academic journey began with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois (1988), where he graduated with High Honors and Bronze Tablet recognition. He later earned an M.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.B.A. in Strategy and Finance in 1992—credentials that helped him approach engineering problems with analytical precision and business insight.

He also used his voice to reflect on the industry, including a 2006 opinion piece where he mused on the evolving expectations in engineering. His closing words—“I’m still a civil engineer…for now…still underpaid and underappreciated by the market.”—became a bit of a legend around the office. We’re all grateful that his “for now” stretched all the way to 2025.

Stories, Surfing, and Steve-Style wisdom

Outside the office, Steve has always embraced life with energy and curiosity. From golf and hiking to basketball and surfing waves in Costa Rica, he brought the same drive and joy to his personal life that he brought to his work.

But maybe what we’ll miss most are the stories. If you ever stopped by Steve’s office, chances are you walked away with a laugh, a little wisdom, or both—often through a tale rooted in his Peoria upbringing.

Thank You, Steve

As Steve moves into retirement, we celebrate a remarkable career and an even more remarkable person. His engineering expertise, leadership, mentorship, and humor have shaped who we are as a company.

We hope you’ll join us on May 2nd to celebrate Steve’s incredible legacy and send him off with the appreciation and good company he deserves.

Making a Difference One Box at a Time: MSI Volunteers at Midwest Food Bank

May 8, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Maurer-Stutz

At Maurer-Stutz, Inc. (MSI), we believe in the power of community and the importance of lending a helping hand wherever possible. Recently, our team once again joined forces at the Midwest Food Bank in Peoria to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.

Packing Hope in Every Box

In early May, one group of employees rolled up their sleeves and dedicated their time to packing 280 food boxes, equating to 10 pallets filled to the brim with essential supplies. These boxes are destined to reach over 1000 individuals in Kentucky, providing much-needed nourishment to families and children facing food insecurity. It’s crucial to note that the poverty rate where these boxes are headed is ranked as one of the highest in the United States.

Commitment to Community

At MSI, we take immense pride in our commitment to supporting our community and those who may be experiencing hardship. Volunteering at the Midwest Food Bank is just one of the many ways we strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Our team’s dedication goes beyond a single day of volunteering. Over the past few months, we’ve volunteered twice at the Food Bank, with two groups of employees graciously contributing their time. We eagerly anticipate returning to the Food Bank to volunteer alongside more employees in the coming months.

Stay tuned for more updates and photos from our volunteer efforts at the Midwest Food Bank, as we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving others and building a brighter, more compassionate world.

Engineering the Future: Maurer-Stutz, Inc.’s Celebrations for National Engineers Week 2024

January 31, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Maurer-Stutz

February marks the annual celebration of National Engineers Week, with E-Week observed from February 18-24th this year. The theme for E-Week 2024, “Welcome to the Future,” aims to celebrate contemporary achievements while paving the way for a brighter and more diverse future in engineering.

At the forefront of innovation, engineering plays a crucial role in designing solutions that shape the world of tomorrow. Residency on the McClugage Bridge

January 23, 2024/in Uncategorized/by Maurer-Stutz

If you’ve recently crossed the McClugage Bridge, you’ve likely marveled at the sight of towering cranes and dedicated construction crews tirelessly working on the ambitious project. What may come as a surprise is the pivotal role played by Maurer-Stutz in this construction feat.

Our excitement stems from being a crucial part of the team providing construction engineering services to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for the new eastbound span of the McClugage Bridge. This vital artery carries US Route 150 over the Illinois River in the metropolitan Peoria area. Leading the charge is a collaborative effort between Michael Baker International and HR Green, spearheading the creation of a new tied-arch bridge boasting three through lanes, two full-width shoulder lanes, and a connected 14’ multi-use path, complete with a south-facing belvedere. The dedicated staff at Maurer-Stutz takes on the responsibility of conducting quality assurance checks, ensuring not only the integrity of the new river bridge elements but also overseeing all approach work and widening along eastbound US Route 150 on both the eastern and western sides of the river crossing.

After more than seven decades of serving the Peoria Metro Area, the aging existing structure of the McClugage Bridge, accommodating over 20,000 eastbound trips daily, prompted the Illinois Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration, to embark on a comprehensive study. This study, which included extensive public input, led to the decision to replace the McClugage Bridge. With the design phase now completed, construction on the new structure commenced in Spring 2019. The upcoming bridge is poised to enhance capacity, elevate safety standards, reduce travel times, and offer additional multimodal access with accommodations for biking and pedestrians. Ultimately, the new McClugage Bridge promises an improved and smoother traveling experience for everyone who relies on this essential bridge.

Scott Perry, a Professional Licensed Surveyor and Engineering Intern at Maurer-Stutz, Inc., has dedicated several months to the ongoing McClugage Bridge reconstruction project. Thanks to the high caliber of his work and his unwavering work ethic, Scott's tenure on the bridge project has been extended.
