Maurer-Stutz had the opportunity last week to provide student tours of ongoing projects in the Peoria, IL area. We hosted Bradley University ASCE Student Chapter and Iowa State University ASABE Student Branch.
Bradley University ASCE Student ChapteR MEETING
MSI was invited to present to the Bradley University American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter at Laura Bradley Park on October 4th. We provided food and drinks and talked about projects and the day-to-day responsibilities of being a consulting design engineer. We also had the opportunity to show a local single-span bridge replacement project in a local park near the Bradley Campus. The project consists of the replacement of a single-span deck beam bridge with a new three-sided precast concrete arch structure. Our team discussed aspects of the project that involved the many different design specialties at our firm. A representative for the Client was also there to discuss their perspective of the project.
Iowa State University ASABE Student Branch Tour
Iowa State University American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Student Branch took their fall trip to Nashville, TN. They took in several tours on their road trip and were able to stop by a 280-head dairy outside Tremont, IL. This dairy is currently undergoing a project to expand their waste storage volume, install a sand settling system and provide a new freestall barn with gravity flush system. The students were able to view the excavation and reinforcement preparations for a 240’ diameter waste storage tank. A client representative was also on hand to give an introduction to their farm and the project.
Maurer-Stutz looks forward to supporting other student groups. If you are interested in MSI providing a presentation or tour of a project, please reach out to us at careers@mstutz.com.
